COACHING

Coaching as a means of renewal is a process in which a leader invites a trained coach to “walk alongside” as the leader seeks to discern God’s will for the leader’s life and then make a plan to follow God’s lead. Video: ‘CHRISTIAN, IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK”                                                                                                                         Publisher: North Point Ministries, Atlanta, Ga                                                                                                                                  Speaker: Andy Stanley

Description: An 8-week video study with workbook suitable for large groups, small groups or independent study

Summary  In many mainline protestant churches today there is a shift in focus from membership to discipleship.  But what exactly is a disciple?  Is being a disciple the same thing as being a Christian, or is it something different?  This eight-part series explores this question in depth, beginning with the fact that the definition of a disciple is clearly provided by Jesus in John 13:34-35, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.  Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Expected Result: Exploration of this topic on a group basis by an entire congregation provides a good foundation to a missional discussion, seeking the answers to “Who and What is God calling this congregation to be?”
