ELCA-Sponsored and/or Lutheran Orientation

Building the church by strengthening leaders, members and congregations for mission. We teach better ways of helping people participate in the areas of ministry in your congregation. The growth comes especially from those who are currently uninvolved, under-involved, and new members.” We teach better ways of communicating, new things to celebrate, and more important things to measure. Excitement occurs naturally when members see results.

The goal of this resource guide is to highlight what could be called “best practice” resources for congregational renewal. Organized around sequential steps of congregational renewal, it suggests some solid resources at each stage along the way.

The mission renewal process is designed to help congregations have a clearer understanding of what God is calling them to be and do in their specific context, and to begin an ongoing process of discernment, action, and reflection that will move the congregation to engage in this mission. The process consists of six day-long workshops, over 18 months, with assignments to work on in between.

At Day 8 Strategies, we are one of the leaders in renewing mainline, progressive and socially conscious churches. We believe that the Reign of God is breaking in all around us and that God is inviting anyone who will, to join in and participate in creative and exciting ways! While many are declaring the end of the church, we are declaring the end of the church as we know it, and inviting you in to church that is more spiritually vibrant and aware, more evangelical in bearing witness, more inclusive in its theology and participation, committed to helping Christians live out their vocations in the world, and working for peace and justice in both local and global situations.

Vibrant Faith Ministries is a catalyst for Christian congregations, communities and households striving to practice vibrant faith in a dynamic world. Vibrant Faith Ministries provides you with access to training events, consulting services, resources as well as multiple faith-building websites.

The NCD survey measures eight quality characteristics of healthy churches. After administering the survey in their own congregation, leaders are encouraged to study the results and use their maximum factor to address the minimum factor. Successful congregations repeat the process every year.

Coaching as a means of renewal is a process in which a leader invites a trained coach to “walk alongside” as the leader seeks to discern God’s will for the leader’s life and then make a plan to follow God’s lead. The coach is an encourager and a partner to help the leader be accountable to the plan the leader makes.;

POWER SURGE: Six Marks of Discipleship for a Changing Church by Michael W. Foss

A powerful plan to transform church members into impassioned disciples. Drawing on his experience at Prince of Peace, Foss makes the case for transforming congregations from a membership model to a discipleship model of church affiliation. The book begins with a careful analysis of recent patterns in church membership/demographics which argue for this paradigm shift. Subsequent chapters detail the unique leadership and organizational needs of a discipleship model; explore the building and maintaining of fundamental trust—in God and in His people—as the cornerstone of the model; and provide practical helps for assessing the present and strategies for moving into the future. Addressed to rostered and non-rostered professional and non-professional church leaders interested in transforming their churches into centers for discipleship and mission, Power Surge makes the case for a dynamic, functional model of church affiliation that moves away from a membership model centered on prerogatives of membership to a discipleship model centered on the notion of Christian vocation/calling. It proposes a grace-centered, rather than legalistic, model of discipleship and builds a bridge through transferable principles between congregational mission mindedness and the individual Christian's life of faith. This book utilizes assessment tools and practical helps so that congregations can make the transition between membership and discipleship paradigms, as it draws on the experience of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church as a case study illustrating the principles of a discipleship model of church affiliation. shapeimage_1_link_0shapeimage_1_link_1shapeimage_1_link_2shapeimage_1_link_3shapeimage_1_link_4shapeimage_1_link_5shapeimage_1_link_6shapeimage_1_link_7shapeimage_1_link_8shapeimage_1_link_9shapeimage_1_link_10shapeimage_1_link_11
